If you guys aren’t following Jen Bartel, then you’re seriously missing out. She’s an amazing illustrator, and she recently created an Overwatch Girl Gang print, and I fell in love immediately. So immediately, that I had to cosplay her version Mei!
I would do a costume breakdown, but there’s really not much here to show…I bought a satin bomber jacket from Forever 21 and added some fur. The booties were bought on amazon and hand painted, and the bat is a plastic toy from target that I also hand painted. If anyone is interested in a more detailed breakdown with photos, let me know! I’d be happy to write something up.
Last month I went to Disney World, and I wanted to buy some of those cute ears before going. In 2015 I went to Disney Land and I felt so lame because I didn’t have ears, so I wanted to be prepared this year.
I bought these adorable Ariel ears from the Etsy shop Wishing4Wonderland. Let me just say, I have never had more compliments, ever! It seemed like everyone at the park wanted to know where I got my ears. I thought it would be cute to do a casual Ariel shoot wearing them!
Part of my new year’s resolution this year was to create more video, and convention vlogs are the perfect way to do so!
Connecticon is always a fun convention. It’s cosplay-heavy and for the most part everyone is happy and there’s always fun things to do around the city of Hartford, like food truck festivals and riverfront events.
In this vlog, I talk a bit about body insecurity wearing Cruiser D.Va, and share some footage from the Yuri On Ice & Overwatch shoots. Mostly though, I just derp around. Don’t forget to check out my Viktor costume breakdown – Mercy and D.Va are in the works!
What kind of content are you interested in seeing in my videos? More b-roll? More cosplayers? More talking? Let me know – I’m only hoping to improve my vlogs for the future!
So I’m just going to go ahead and start this post by saying if you haven’t yet watched Yuri!!! On Ice, you’re missing out. It’s taken the sports anime theme and completely turned it into something with real [gay] character relationships and beautiful figure skating animations.
I’m so in love with this show that I’ll mention a funny anecdote: Back when this was airing, I thought it would be a good idea to watch the latest (second to last) episode while on the treadmill at the gym. Big mistake. 5 min into the episode found me sobbing while walking as slow as possible, drawing many concerned glances from other patrons. Was it worth it? Yes. This show is incredible.
I documented the entire process of creating this costume, from initial sketch to the end. Keep reading for the full post!
