So you may have noticed I’ve been a bit silent this past week, but I have just been so busy. I’ve been spending a lot of time working on my cosplays, and I just got a huge (32-portrait) freelance illustration project, so my spare time has been spent away from blogging. Yikes, this summer is going by so fast!
And speaking of going by fast, this week I’ll be going to Montreal for vacation! What? I booked this back in March, and I’m not even exaggerating when I say I haven’t thought about it.
So I need your help!! We’re staying at the L Hotel in Old Montreal, but I have no idea what to do while there! Do you have any advice for staying in the city? And sights I can’t miss? How about any great food places?
See you next week!
So, today is my 25th birthday! It feels a bit strange to be a quarter of a century, but I feel like this is a good age for me. Most of my friends are older than me, so mentally I’ve felt like I have been 25 for a year now. It’s been a crazy year, I quit my last job, started a new one, took a vacation, took a blog break, started cosplaying as a new hobby, and started blogging again with a bit of a shifted focus.
I am happy that the one thing that has remained consistent has been this blog – and you guys, my readers, always have the sweetest words and most encouraging comments. So thank you! You never cease to put a smile on my face after a bad day.
I don’t normally post personal items on the blog, but I wanted to share some of my goals for next year, taken from my “25 before 26” list (which a lot are actually carried over from last year’s list)…some are serious, but some are silly!
- Don’t sweat the small stuff
- Go running more
- Finish five cosplay costumes
- Don’t be afraid to go out after work
- Take [another] vacation
- Purchase solid, investment wardrobe pieces
- Buy a new couch
- Grow my bangs out
- Finish illustrations that I start
- Collaborate on creating blog/cosplay videos
Hopefully next year, this post will have kept me accountable to complete them!
What have some of your goals been this year? Are you keeping up with them?
Happy Friday! Today after work I’m headed up to NH to spend the week with my family. I’m looking forward to lots of baking, watching the Food Network, and playing around on my sewing machine ;) I’ll be taking a break from blogging until after Christmas, but I’ll be active on twitter and instagram.
I hope everyone has a Happy Holiday! What are your plans?
I have a confession: much of my summer was taken up playing Bioshock Infinite. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s an amazingly gorgeous video game that takes place in a city in the clouds, called Columbia…I promise, there’s a reason I’m posting this on Halloween! ;)
Main character Booker DeWitt rescues Elizabeth, a young girl who is your sidekick throughout the game – and let me just say, she is amazing. This was the first game I’ve played through, and I know it’s because of Elizabeth. How does this have to relate to Halloween? I adored her so much, I am dressing up as her this year! :) I’ve already got a great location scouted to take photos this weekend.
And just in case you wanted it, here is the game description from the game’s official website…
“Set in 1912, players assume the role of former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, sent to the flying city of Columbia on a rescue mission. His target? Elizabeth, imprisoned since childhood. During their daring escape, Booker and Elizabeth form a powerful bond — one that lets Booker augment his own abilities with her world-altering control over the environment. Together, they fight from high-speed Sky-Lines, in the streets and houses of Columbia, on giant zeppelins, and in the clouds, all while learning to harness an expanding arsenal of weapons and abilities…”
Has anyone else played this? Or play any other video games?
Remember that Lauren Moffatt bikini we were all coveting this summer? Sadly, I don’t own it, but a girl can dream!
I’m so excited – I’m going to Isla Mujeres, Mexico in TWO DAYS with Sam! Not only is it my first vacation, but it’s my first time out of the country – crazy, right? I’m totally ready for a week of sun, teal water and endless drinks.
We’ll be staying at Privilege Aluxes, and it looks so beautiful – I can’t wait to review it. Has anyone else ever been to Isla Mujeres? I’m open to suggestions for what to do! Hoping to go snorkeling and see some sea turtles :)
See you in a week!
