throwback thursday

Throwback Thursday | 5

I’m back with another Throwback Thursday! Aka the series where I share old, sometimes embarrassing works of mine.

I almost didn’t post these because I can’t find credits for all the images, but I wanted to share my “story” anyway. These two were made circa 2006, when I was 100% dedicated to my “collage” phase. My website was called Clandestine, and I even had a matching LiveJournal. I know. Way cool.

Image credits (that I searched very hard for): Kate Spade 2006 BisBee Handbags by (Tim Walker) | Vogue US March 2005 : Paint the Town (Steven Meisel)
(If you happen to know any other credits, let me know!)

So now that I’ve shared a few of my old throwbacks, I’d love to see yours! Do you have any old drawings or designs you’d be willing to share?

And I’m back with another (slightly less embarrassing than the previous few) Throwback Thursday!

Clearly, back then I was still really into fashion editorials. I would comb the internet finding shoots to use in these really weird collages I did. This one uses The Chicest Show On Earth featuring Jessica Stam. You can see the whole shoot shot by Laspata DeCaro here.

Do you have any old works you want to share? I love seeing how people have evolved!

And I’m bringing back more Throwback Thursday! I still think it’s hilarious to go back and look at where you started, and it’s great hearing that so many of you started where I did, too!

This particular piece was created using that famous Alice in Wonderland by Annie Leibovitz for Vogue 2003 that we’re all probably familiar with. It’s still one of my absolute favorites! Who else is with me?

Do you have any “Throwback Thursdays” you’re willing to share?

I’m so excited that you all seemed to enjoy the first Throwback Thursday post, and even more excited that many of you also started out in the same way! I’m definitely going to keep this column up, but I think I may make it every two weeks.

Even back then, I guess I was a fan of color, ha!

Throwback Thursday?

So this has been an idea I’ve had for quite some time now…sharing all of my old projects, from ’05-’07, back when I was just discovering what “digital art” was. I started out back in about 2003 making cartoon dolls, or basically drawing pixel clothes on pixel bodies. At that point, we all either knew I’d be a fashion designer or some sort of digital artist, ha! Unfortunately, I don’t have any of my old dolls after a tragic computer crash in 2005. But I do have all of my old collages!

I had this livejournal account, and I loved making icons…that was my favorite. The livejournal is still up, but tragically, all my photobucket links are broken ;) How I wish I knew what an external hard drive was back then!

Side note…elmers glue?? Totally relevant to the ‘scene’…

The reason I was hesitant to post these is because I don’t have the credits to the original images, but I think it’s so fun to share how you got started and show that progression. If you’re interested in seeing more (believe me, I made plenty!!) let me know! I still can’t quite believe I made these…it’s so different than my aesthetic now!
