As I was working on updating my cosplay page, I realized I never shared my Faye Valentine costume! I made this last year for Anime Boston. It’s the outfit she’s wearing when we first meet her in the casino.
I also think this might be the first costume in a long time where I didn’t document my progress…I’m so sorry!! I searched and searched for progress photos but couldn’t find any :( If you’re interested in any way about how I made any parts of this costume, please let me know!

If you watched Cowboy Bebop, who was your favorite character? I love Faye so much, but I also really like Spike. This is one of my favorite animes of all time!
Three years ago I made my first Frozen cosplay, Elsa. After that I said I wouldn’t do another Frozen costume, but here we are :>
When I saw Anna’s design from Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, I knew that was my next costume. It was detailed and I knew I would be pushing myself with a lot of hand sewing.
I was really nervous about shooting this costume, since it had to be snowy. In New England we got a massive storm last week but in a weird weather happenstance, it literally all melted before the weekend :( But we ventured somewhere that did have snow, and it actually started snowing when we took these photos. I was so excited! The snow you see here is all real, no photoshop :)
I’ve written up a detailed breakdown of this costume…read on to see how I made it!
If you guys aren’t following Jen Bartel, then you’re seriously missing out. She’s an amazing illustrator, and she recently created an Overwatch Girl Gang print, and I fell in love immediately. So immediately, that I had to cosplay her version Mei!
I would do a costume breakdown, but there’s really not much here to show…I bought a satin bomber jacket from Forever 21 and added some fur. The booties were bought on amazon and hand painted, and the bat is a plastic toy from target that I also hand painted. If anyone is interested in a more detailed breakdown with photos, let me know! I’d be happy to write something up.
Since Mei is part of a girl gang, I thought it fitting to add a few themed pins :) I added the Filthy ‘Casual’ pin, D.Va bunny pin from ShatteredStore and a Sombra pin from Rocketman Props.
Be sure to follow Jen on Twitter and check out her shop.
Which of the girl gang characters is your favorite?
This year for Halloween, I decided to make an Alice costume! I actually saw a variation of this costume on a Simplicity pattern and knew I wanted to create this “version” of classic Alice.
(Also today I learned a valuable lesson – even if you iron your cotton to be completely flat, if you’re in the car for a long time it *will* wrinkle back up! >.<
I’m dying to do a side-by-side of my first Alice Madness – essentially the same costume base, though I’ve definitely improved upon details and fit in the past few years.
Full costume breakdown is below!
Today I’ve got a fun post – it’s a mix of What I Wore and cosplay posts.
Last month I went to Disney World, and I wanted to buy some of those cute ears before going. In 2015 I went to Disney Land and I felt so lame because I didn’t have ears, so I wanted to be prepared this year.
I bought these adorable Ariel ears from the Etsy shop Wishing4Wonderland. Let me just say, I have never had more compliments, ever! It seemed like everyone at the park wanted to know where I got my ears. I thought it would be cute to do a casual Ariel shoot wearing them!
