OMG am I back with another geeky cocktail? You bet I am! To stick in the theme of previous drinks, this falls in line with Overwatch’s brand new Paris Map!
This cocktail uses two french liquors: Champagne and Chambord, a raspberry liqueur from the Loire Valley of France. I remember when I first heard this ordered out; I immediately had to try it myself! It’s kind of a classic for me. Pair these together for one very french cocktail to cheers the new Overwatch map!
You will need:
- Cranberry juice
- Raspberries for garnish
For this drink, fill your champagne flute about 3/4 of the way full. Add 1/2 shot of cranberry juice and about a teaspoon of the Chambord (any more and the drink will be too sweet!) Top with a few raspberries, and enjoy!
As always, if you make this drink, let me know! I’d love to hear or see how it turned out. And let me know if you’ve been playing the new Paris map! Do you love it?
Here’s a costume that I forgot I made…Cruiser DVa! I made her last year right when she was announced, for the Overwatch anniversary event. These photos were all shot at Connecticon 2017 by Tactful Cactus Photo.
I think this pattern from Butterick was MADE for Cruiser DVa…or DVa was based on this pattern :) I used a checkered cotton that I actually dyed a little darker using RIT dye. I also got lazy and didn’t create buttonholes for the top – the whole thing velcros together which is a little embarrassing, but the truth.
These are actually jeggings! Much comfier to wear at a con all day than jeans.
I bought these headphones as a base, and cut the cord off. I painted them with teal paint and added some silver to the center.
This was a super simple, long rectangle that I sewed up. I included wire in this so when it twists on top of my head, it stands up.
Remember how I said I hate ponytail wigs? Still true. I bought a Jeannie from Arda but got so frustrated with trying to style it that I gave up. The wig shown here is actually my Belle wig, which is an Arda Grace in Spanish Brown. I kept DVa’s hair in a low pony, mostly for my own sanity (:
The gun was a raw 3d print that I bought and assembled. I spray painted the whole gun silver, then used acrylics to paint the colors. I wish I had filled and sanded the edges where the gun is glued apart, though!
If you guys aren’t following Jen Bartel, then you’re seriously missing out. She’s an amazing illustrator, and she recently created an Overwatch Girl Gang print, and I fell in love immediately. So immediately, that I had to cosplay her version Mei!
I would do a costume breakdown, but there’s really not much here to show…I bought a satin bomber jacket from Forever 21 and added some fur. The booties were bought on amazon and hand painted, and the bat is a plastic toy from target that I also hand painted. If anyone is interested in a more detailed breakdown with photos, let me know! I’d be happy to write something up.
Since Mei is part of a girl gang, I thought it fitting to add a few themed pins :) I added the Filthy ‘Casual’ pin, D.Va bunny pin from ShatteredStore and a Sombra pin from Rocketman Props.
Be sure to follow Jen on Twitter and check out her shop.
Which of the girl gang characters is your favorite?
OK, I swear not everything I do has to do with geeky cocktails! I’m again collaborating on Drunkenwatch, though I know that’s all I’ve been posting lately! I have so many ideas for posts but not enough time to do them, so for now this series is taking priority.
This week’s installment is a champagne toast to Overwatch’s 1 year anniversary! We didn’t make up a drink, and instead are toasting using the classic champagne cocktail, Kir Speciale. I’ll post the recipe below if you don’t know how to make it :)
This week we’re featuring the usual squad of Skowalz, AcornBandit, silenced_knight, with special guest streamer Starbuck!
The whole reason I started playing Overwatch was to play DVa (who isn’t even my main anymore), so it’s about time we featured a DVa-themed post. To toast with us and make a Kir Speciale:
You will need (makes 1):
- Blackcurrant liqueur (Creme de Cassis)
- Triple Sec (just a splash)
- Raspberries or blackberries (for garnish)
Not pictured: we forgot to add the berries to the top for a little extra flair! Epic fail. They really make the drink!
- Pour champagne into a flute, 3/4 full
- Drizzle in the blackcurrant liquor and triple sec
- Add a few raspberries/blackberries to the top
- Wait for the ingredients to settle, and enjoy!
Sam got me this cute DVa jacket for my birthday, so I took the opportunity to throw together a fun casual cosplay – nothing serious, and I already owned the shirt and wig. DVa is fun to cosplay!
And as a final side note to Overwatch: THANK YOU for giving me tons of art, cosplay, and blog post ideas this past year…I’m looking forward to lots of creative ideas in the upcoming year!
Another Friday, another installment of Overwatch-themed geeky cocktails! I’m again collaborating on Drunkenwatch with my stream friends Skowalz, AcornBandit, and silenced_knight. This week features silenced’s main, Widomaker in “Widow’s Kiss”. This fun purple drink is dark and mysterious like Widow, and uses some french liqueurs to match her origin.
You will need (makes 1):
- 2 shots of light rum
- 1 shot of Grand Marnier
- 1/2 shot blue curacao
- 1/2 cup cranberry juice
- Juice of 1/2 lime
- Lime seltzer (not required)
- Add some ice cubes into your shaker
- Add in the rum, Grand Marnier, blue curacao, cranberry juice, and lime juice
- Shake liberally and pour into a cocktail glass
- A tiny lime wedge makes a great garnish!
- If you want your drink a little lighter, add some lime seltzer to the top, and stir
If you want to go really fancy, add some salt to the rim for when someone on your team picks widowmaker (unless its silenced_knight). s( ^ ‿ ^)-b
As always, if you make this drink, let me know! I’d love to hear or see how it turned out.
