My Quarantine Essentials

I have to admit, since the stay in place/quarantine directives came down ~18 weeks ago, I haven’t been feeling very creative. I started a sketch of my “quarantine essentials” about 2 weeks into stay at home, and it’s taken me this long to finish them.

Nintendo Switch: I’ve been playing Animal Crossing like crazy. Remember how I said I wasn’t being creative? A friend of mine told me I was being creative, just in a different way. I’m loving creating custom clothes and terraforming my island! I also recently started Mario Odyssey for the first time, and it’s soooo good.

Toilet paper: AKA the new currency. We stocked up months ago but have only seen it in stores a few more times. YIKES!

PS4: Ok, I admit the only game I’ve been “playing” on PS4 is Just Dance. It’s keeping me active…and sane!

Gaming headphones: Thank goodness for game nights of Overwatch with friends.

Ice cream: Need I say more?

Wine: Need I say more?

I want to know – what have you been doing to keep busy and sane during this time? Is anyone else playing Animal Crossing?

Also this is just your friendly reminder – just because something *is* open, doesn’t mean you *should* go. And please be sure you’re wearing your mask and social distancing!

Magic Kingdom Recap

Last week I had a mini Disney vacation, and visited Magic Kingdom and Epcot! I thought I’d share a more personal post, since I’ve been lacking in those. I wanted to feature highlights of each park, starting with Magic Kingdom!

First off, I had to wear the perfect outfit. Am I really a blogger if I didn’t? :P I went with a Rapunzel theme after seeing this dress.

OUTFIT DETAILS:
Ears: Best Day Ever Ears Co.
Tangled Dress: Her Universe @ Hot Topic

I also went on a hunt for the magical #PurpleWall, and snagged a few outfit photos there. I have to say, this is my favorite Disney wall I saw on my entire trip!

We ate a lot of snacks, and Skowalz managed to take a “BITE” series of photos…and of course, because I wanted as many instagram-worthy photos, I had to try the Dole Whip (which was surprisingly really tasty!)

My 2 favorite rides at Magic Kingdom are Thunder Mountain and the Teacups :) I got to ride both! I really wanted to try out the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train coaster, but the wait was too long :( Next time, hopefully…

I have also done Splash Mountain and Space Mountain in previous visits, but I am terrified of both. I just don’t feel safe! And after riding Space Mountain last year, I was extremely stressed and anxious. I can’t be the only one scared to ride these, right?? Which rides are your favorite?

Twenty Nine

Kyla Is Inspired | 29

Yep, today I turn 29…last year in my twenties! I usually don’t post personal items on my blog, but as I was digging through some old posts I found this list from when I turned 25…a list of things I wanted to accomplish. I wanted to share how I’ve accomplished these over the years as I enter the last year being a 20-something :)

Take a vacation
I went to Tokyo when I was 27. I doubt any vacation I take after that will be as good…though Disney last year was pretty great :>

Finish five cosplay costumes
I’ve probably made over 30 costumes since I turned 25. So yeah…I definitely accomplished this! Some of my favorites have been Princess Peach, Anna, Viktor & McCree.

  • Buy a new couch
  • Nailed it.

  • Don’t be afraid to go out after work
  • I’m not afraid; I just prefer staying in and having a lazy time :)

    Grow my bangs out
Nope. I’ve tried many times but…I’m a bangs girl :) One of my goals when I was 24 was to dye my hair purple, and I think I managed that with my pink & purple ombre!

  • Create video content
  • I may not make a lot, but I created a YouTube channel!

I don’t have any goals for this year; I just want to enjoy the last year in my twenties. To my fellow blog friends: If you’re 30, do you really feel any different? And if you’re like me and you’re still in your 20s, do you feel like you need to accomplish big things before you hit the big 3-0?

Traveling to Tokyo With A White Fish Allergy

One year ago (to the day!), I was lucky enough to go on my dream vacation: Tokyo. One of the factors that terrified me of going was my strange seafood allergy; in particular, white fish. Over the years my allergy has gotten better and I can actually eat shellfish and tuna (not all red fish though – salmon is still a no-go for me). But white fish causes bad reactions and I was so scared that I was going to eat something that would cause a reaction.

I filmed this video talking about how I prepared for the trip, what I researched, and what I did when I was there. I am not a doctor, these are merely my tips, my experience, and my adventure eating in Tokyo.

Also, it apparently takes me a year to edit a video, because I shot this right after I got home and just never got around to finishing it. I also apologize for the rambling nature of the video; it’s one of my first ^^ But…late than never, right? I sincerely hope someone finds this useful!

    Happy New Year!

Wow, can you believe that 2016 is already over? I’m not going to focus on what happened this year, but rather wanted to share some of my goals for 2017, both blogging and personal.

Kyla Is Inspired | Happy New Year

1 ART EVERY WEEK: Ever since I got ProCreate on my iPad, I’ve been drawing more. My main goal next year is to create something every week; I’ll be sharing it on my twitter.
2 BLOG MORE: I’m pretty sure this was my goal last year too, and I didn’t blog more. Whoops. I’ve already started filling my editorial calendar this year, so here’s hoping I actually stick to it!
3 OPEN AN ONLINE SHOP: This idea has been floating in my head for some time now, and I have a pretty good idea of what I want to sell. The only thing hanging me up is all the legal stuff, so I need to get my butt in gear and get that settled. Then I can do the fun stuff, like actually making the products :)
4 10,000 STEPS A DAY: Not your typical “eat healthy” & “workout more” – I just want to be able to say that yes, I walked my 10k steps a day and met my goals. That fitbit isn’t just a piece of jewelry! I’m also going to try and be more active in Powerpuff Bloggers, a fun community for nerdy bloggers to stay active.

What are your goals this year?
