Obsession: Bioshock Infinite

I have a confession: much of my summer was taken up playing Bioshock Infinite. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s an amazingly gorgeous video game that takes place in a city in the clouds, called Columbia…I promise, there’s a reason I’m posting this on Halloween! ;)

Main character Booker DeWitt rescues Elizabeth, a young girl who is your sidekick throughout the game – and let me just say, she is amazing. This was the first game I’ve played through, and I know it’s because of Elizabeth. How does this have to relate to Halloween? I adored her so much, I am dressing up as her this year! :) I’ve already got a great location scouted to take photos this weekend.

And just in case you wanted it, here is the game description from the game’s official website…

“Set in 1912, players assume the role of former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, sent to the flying city of Columbia on a rescue mission. His target? Elizabeth, imprisoned since childhood. During their daring escape, Booker and Elizabeth form a powerful bond — one that lets Booker augment his own abilities with her world-altering control over the environment. Together, they fight from high-speed Sky-Lines, in the streets and houses of Columbia, on giant zeppelins, and in the clouds, all while learning to harness an expanding arsenal of weapons and abilities…”

Has anyone else played this? Or play any other video games?

Off to Isla Mujeres

kyla is inspired | vacation!

Remember that Lauren Moffatt bikini we were all coveting this summer? Sadly, I don’t own it, but a girl can dream!

I’m so excited – I’m going to Isla Mujeres, Mexico in TWO DAYS with Sam! Not only is it my first vacation, but it’s my first time out of the country – crazy, right? I’m totally ready for a week of sun, teal water and endless drinks.

We’ll be staying at Privilege Aluxes, and it looks so beautiful – I can’t wait to review it. Has anyone else ever been to Isla Mujeres? I’m open to suggestions for what to do! Hoping to go snorkeling and see some sea turtles :)

Exciting News!

exciting news!
Remember last week when I mentioned I have finally broken out of my rut and had some exciting news? Welp. I left my job! In all honesty, for the last 4 or 5 months, I was going crazy. I was depressed, sad, un-inspired and unhappy. I’ll be starting a new job on Monday and I couldn’t be more excited – it’s a much better fit and I can’t wait to get started! It feels a bit strange, closing one chapter and opening another, but it’s the right next step for me. I had been dwelling on it for a while, but it finally feels right.

The above girl is a new drawing I’ve been working on for the past few months, but had been uninspired to finish. I’ll show the finished illustration soon! I’m just excited to finally feel 100% excited and positive again.
