Cosplay | Caitlyn, Part 2

Finally, here is my part 2 of my Caitlyn cosplay! I wore this to both Connecticon & Boston Comic Con, and had so much fun wearing it.

If you’re looking to see how I made this costume, go here! And if you have any specific questions I’d be happy to answer them. It was a learning process with the gun and hat, but ultimately I’m happy with them.

Do you have a favorite League of Legends character?

Cosplay | Caitlyn, the Sheriff of Piltover

I’m really excited to share my newest costume, Caitlyn from League of Legends. I actually saw her official art last year, and it prompted me to start playing the game! I loved her outfit so much that I knew I wanted to create it at some point.

I wore this costume to Connecticon this past weekend, and Rich Carpenter snapped these photos on Saturday. And oh my gosh, I love them. I was going to wait until I had all my photos edited to post, but I was too excited not to share these.

Costume Details:

  • Dress: Jersey knit. Top trim is lace, bottom is two layers of white lining that I gathered and sewed to the hem.
  • Belts, Holster: Brown suede. Metal “gears” are craft foam that I spray painted silver and attached silver studs to.
  • Hat: Yikes! This was hard. It was a rolled cardstock tube, with the purple jersey pulled taut over the top to create the triangle shape. I used jersey-covered cardboard for the top and bottom. The stripes are gold spandex, and the wrap is the brown suede.
  • Hat Details: The ring and scopes are spray-painted model magic. The scopes are glued onto gold wire, and the top of the wire is stuck through the top of the hat.
  • Gun: The shape of the gun was cut from a large piece of pink XPS foam (found at Home Depot). It was paper mached, primed with gesso, and spray painted. The barrel is a dowel and wrapping paper tube stuck into the foam. Details were made of craft foam, model magic, and fabric studs.

If you have specific questions about how I made anything, let me know!

Have any of you played League of Legends? It’s such a fun game, and there are so many fun champions to choose from. This definitely isn’t my only League costume!

Cosplay | Fionna (Adventure Time)

This costume was completely not planned, and really just happened over the course of a couple of weeks. I got this cute Fionna tin from Loot Crate last month, and was inspired to make this costume in time for PortCon Maine.

Kyla Cosplay | Steampunk Fionna

There are a ton of really great Fionna costumes that I’ve seen, so I decided I wanted to be a bit different and make it a Steampunk version (I love seeing steampunk costumes!). So I embarked on making my first fully-boned corset, and am so happy with how it turned out. Overall, I’m really pleased with this costume, and how I created it. Once again, Sam took amazing photos!

Can I also just mention, lightening your eyebrows is really hard when you have nearly black eyebrows? Does anyone have tips for this?

I’ll be wearing this costume to Connecticon this weekend (along with Caitlyn from League of Legends)…is anyone else going to be there? Come and say hi if you are!

Cosplay | Alice Madness Returns

Today I’m excited to share my newest costume, Alice from Alice: Madness Returns! Alice In Wonderland was of course one of my favorites as a kid, and playing this game last year only enforced my love of her. I actually had some pretty ambitious dreams to cosplay a different version of her, but the outfit proved too difficult. So I scaled it back and made a simpler version of her…and I’m pretty happy with it!

Alice holds this amazing Vorpal Blade, which was the first prop I’ve ever created. The handle is model magic – remember that stuff from childhood? It sure made me feel nostalgic. I’m curious, would anyone be interested in walkthroughs/mini tutorials of anything? I usually take progress photos of everything, I’m just wondering if anyone was interested.

While I love Alice and this costume, I don’t think I’ll be wearing her to any cons. Sam took these amazing photos, which is enough for me (plus I have big plans for my cons this summer!). I do have to say though, Alice has some pretty fabulous outfits ;) If I have the time, there’s a few more I’d like to create!

ALSO – I caved, and made a facebook page for all of my cosplay stuff! It would mean a lot to check it out. :)

Cosplay | Elizabeth Comstock Part 2

Yay, I’m really happy to share the Part 2 of my Elizabeth Comstock cosplay! These photos came out phenomenally, and I’m so happy with them (thanks again, Sam!). My favorites are the ones where Columbia are photoshopped into the background…so much fun!

I realllly wanted to update this bottle a bit more before shooting (it’s supposed to look more like this), but I didn’t have the time. I still like how it came out, and it makes a great decoration!

Now that I’ve finally finished all three Bioshock Infinite Elizabeths, I’m so excited to keep working on my planned cosplays for this year…next up is Alice & Caitlyn!
